A proper closing is what protects your pool through a Central New York winter. We add closing chemicals, blow out the lines and cap them to prevent freeze damage, and disassemble the equipment pad so your pump and other equipment can be stored for the season. When should you close? In Central New York, mid-September through late October, before the first hard freeze. Closing too early while the water is still warm can mean algae in the spring, and closing too late risks freeze damage.
Do you need to drain the pool? No. We lower the water to the right level and winterize the plumbing so nothing freezes.
